On May 5, 2023, Northwest Patrol Officers responded to a traffic collision between a motorcycle and car near Cantrell Road and Sam Peck Road. When officers arrived they discovered the driver of the motorcycle unresponsive. The motorcycle driver, later identified as 37-year-old Jess Wilkins, of Little Rock, was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Jamal Jones was transported to a local hospital and released with minor injuries.

Accident Reconstruction Officers were called and responded to process the scene and take photographs, collect evidence, and take measurements. At this point in the investigation, no charges have been filed pending a comprehensive review. This investigation is ongoing and next of kin was notified.
