Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a three-vehicle collision at 7844 Baseline Road at 8:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver of one of the vehicles, later identified as 59-year-old Michael Simpson, unresponsive. MEMS responded and transported all drivers and passengers to local hospitals for further medical treatment. Simpson was pronounced dead, and his body was transported by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office and transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine if cause of death was the accident or a medical condition prior to the collision and next of kin was notified.  This investigation is ongoing.
