Fatal Pedestrian Collision, 4800 block of Asher Avenue)

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, just after midnight, officers in the 12th Street Division responded to the 4800 block of Asher Avenue for a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Upon the officer’s arrival, medical personnel was on the scene providing care to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries. The driver involved, LaJonston Paskel, remained on the scene and met with officers to provide a statement of the collision.

Accident Reconstruction Officers and the Crime Scene Search Unit were requested to respond to the scene and collected information and measurements to assist in this investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, the pedestrian was walking across Asher Ave and was struck in an eastbound lane of traffic. This investigation is ongoing and no citations have been issued pending a comprehensive review. Accident Reconstruction Officers have not been able to positively identify the female pedestrian, requesting identification assistance from the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

Update: The pedestrian has been identified as Christina Lawrence, 46 years old. The next of kin have been notified.
