Enrollment remains open for aspiring business owners to sign up for the City of Little Rock’s 10-week Entrepreneurial Training Course that begins Aug. 29. The deadline to register for the course is Aug. 18.

“The Entrepreneurial Training Course is for anyone who has ever wanted to start their own business or to turn a hobby or skill into a rewarding profession,” Small Business Development Coordinator Chauncey Holloman said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, which is why the City of Little Rock is committed to helping entrepreneurs thrive.”

The Entrepreneurial Training Course is a partnership between the City of Little Rock and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Small Business and Technology Development Center. The course covers a wide range of topics, including business concepts, feasibility, market analysis, pricing and cash flow. Each participant receives assistance with creating a realistic business plan and will graduate with a completed plan to implement a business idea.

Classes are Monday nights from 6 – 9 p.m. at the Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center. The course lasts 10 weeks.

“More than 300 people have participated in Little Rock’s Entrepreneurial Training Course,” said Holloman. “Graduates have gone on to create very successful businesses here in the City, including Little Rock Climbing Center, Artistic Edge Custom Framing and Imprentta printing.”

Tuition cost for the course is $100 for Little Rock residents and includes all classes, a textbook and business plan assistance.  For more information, contact Chauncey Holloman at cholloman@littlerock.gov or 501-379-1505.
