On Thursday, January 5, 2023, Little Rock Police Officers responded to a shooting report at UAMS at 11:21 p.m. When they arrived, officers made contact with a black, male victim later identified as Carnelius Williams, 17, of Little Rock. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Officers made contact with witnesses at the hospital who advised the incident occurred in the area of Chicot Road and Depriest Road. A crime scene was discovered on at Depriest Road. The Pulaski County Coroner responded to UAMS and transported the body of Mr. Williams to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.

Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit responded to the scene and a preliminary investigation was underway. Detectives canvassed Depriest Road and made contact with witnesses in the area. This incident occurred in the Southwest Division and next of kin was notified.
