Recently the City of Little Rock condemned the property located at 2804 Harrison Street, and Youngblood Demolition and Excavating was the low bidder to demolish the structure. Each contractor is instructed not to begin any demolition work until Code Enforcement Staff is on-site to verify the correct address and structure to be demolished. On or about August 16, 2012, Youngblood Demolition and Excavating began the demolition of 2800 Harrison Street without notifying staff. Staff reports that the property located at 2800 Harrison Street was declared “unsafe vacant” in April 2012; however, it had not been condemned.
Staff was notified when the contractor tried to dispose of the structure at the Little Rock Landfill and they did not have prior authorization or notification from Code Enforcement Staff. Staff instructed Youngblood Demolition and Excavating that they would need to contact their insurance company since they demolished the wrong structure and the City would not be liable for their failure to follow procedure. Youngblood Demolition and Excavating has an active business license with the City of North Little Rock that staff verified in January 2012. In addition, Youngblood has an active State Contractor’s License under the name of Youngblood Land and Cattle Company which expires February 28, 2013
.
