Little Rock, Ark. — Hundreds of volunteers and nearly 30 neighborhoods plan to participate in the Great American Citywide Cleanup set for Saturday, March 12. Mayor Mark Stodola along with Steve “Wild Man” Wilson will officially open the day’s events with an 8 a.m. kickoff at Interstate Park.

Several neighborhood cleanups will take place in addition to the big cleanup at Fourche Creek, which stretches across the City of Little Rock and includes several wetlands in its nearly 108,000 acres. Approximately 75 percent of Little Rock’s drainage ends up at the Fourche, making it the end point for enormous amounts of debris.

Keep Little Rock Beautiful (KLRB), a certified local affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, is hosting the citywide cleanup to promote litter pickup, recycling, beautification and community improvement in the capital city. The seventh annual Great American Cleanup in Little Rock is part of the largest community improvement effort in the nation, the Great American Cleanup, which takes place annually from March 1 through May 31 and involves an estimated 3 million volunteers nationwide.

Keep Little Rock Beautiful will provide trash bags, safety vests and gloves to neighborhood cleanup groups that register.
