Jennifer Godwin | (o) 501 371 4421 | (c) 501 804 4822LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 30, 2015) – The City of Little Rock’s Public Works Department is making a temporary change to the Solid Waste Services collection times, with crews now starting work at 6:30 a.m. The change begins Monday, Aug. 3, and will continue through at least mid-September.
The change was implemented as a safety precaution for employees to avoid the intense afternoon heat. The new time will stay in effect until the extreme high heat moves out of the central Arkansas area. The National Weather Service has issued recent hazardous weather outlooks for parts of the state that warn of hot and humid conditions with possible heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees.
The time change will impact garbage, yard waste, recycling, and all other collection services. Solid Waste Services is asking that residents have materials out for collection by 6:30 a.m. on their normally scheduled pickup day. The time change does not affect the weekly cycle.
More information about the collection of residential waste is available at http://littlerock.gov/citydepartments/publicworks/solidwaste/
