LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock city officials today reminded residents that personal fireworks usage is prohibited inside Little Rock city limits.
With the Fourth of July on Thursday, the number of fireworks complaints have increased significantly. The City asks residents who wish to report fireworks usage to email LRPDFireworksViolations@LittleRock.gov. This temporary email address will be monitored throughout the holiday weekend. Every email is reviewed by Little Rock Emergency Communications personnel and assigned to a Little Rock police officer.
Residents who submit complaints by email will receive an automated acknowledgement, but they should not expect to be directly contacted by an officer. Police respond to fireworks violations in addition to their normal responsibilities, so residents are asked to be patient and to recognize some emergencies may take precedence. Officers who witness illegal fireworks activity will confiscate fireworks and issue citations.
The City of Little Rock uses a temporary email address for reports of fireworks in order to more efficiently and effectively respond to complaints and to emergency requests during the holiday. Residents are reminded to call 911 during emergencies, for fireworks-related injuries or property damage and to report suspected gunfire.
Non-emergency police reports can be made to (501) 371-4829.
Personal use of fireworks is illegal, and it can lead to injury or property damage. Residents are encouraged to celebrate the holiday by watching professional, licensed displays.
The loud noises from fireworks can also cause stress, fear and anxiety for others and for pets. Residents are asked to be good neighbors and refrain from using fireworks.
As a reminder, city offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Residential sanitation and recycling pickup scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be delayed by one day because of the holiday.
