City of Little Rock Joins Heifer International, Arkansas Foodbank for #GivingTuesday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The first Tuesday of December will officially be a day for giving back in Arkansas’ State Capital. The City of Little Rock issued an official Mayoral Proclamation marking December 3, 2013 as #GivingTuesday in partnership with several local charitable and service organizations including Heifer International and the Arkansas Foodbank.

#GivingTuesday is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

“Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for everyone to contribute to the tremendous impact of philanthropy, volunteerism, and community service on the City of Little Rock,” said Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola. “Days like Giving Tuesday are important ways for citizens to make an impact and support our local community this holiday season.”

By supporting the Arkansas Foodbank, Heifer International and other charitable organizations on #GivingTuesday, you can use your buying power to affect serious change in the world and alleviate the problems that are costing people their lives right now. This season, in addition to purchasing gadgets and things, Little Rock residents can open their wallets on #GivingTuesday and support important work in our community.

#GivingTuesday is an initiative marking the start of the giving season, spearheaded by groups such as the UN Foundation, the 92nd St. Y, InterAction and Mashable.
