LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Dec 31, 2015) – The City of Little Rock Public Works Department will place barricades on Rebsamen Park Road this afternoon as floodwaters from the Arkansas River are expected to cover the road by nightfall.

Barricades will be put up just west of the roundabout at Riverfront Drive and at the intersection of Overlook Drive.

Already, several City parks and the Rebsamen Golf Course have been closed because of flooding. Two Rivers and Murray parks were closed Wednesday, as was the William E. “Bill” Clark Presidential Park Wetlands.

Cyclists and pedestrians are warned to not use the Arkansas River Trail along Rebsamen Park Road, as flooding has created hazardous conditions.

The National Weather Service has issued a river flood warning for the Arkansas River at Little Rock. If the river crests in Little Rock around 26 feet as expected Friday, it would be in the top 10 historic crests since records were kept and the only one from this century to make the list, according to the National Weather Service.
