The City of Little Rock broke ground on a much anticipated Fire Station to serve residents and businesses in the city’s Southwest.

Station 24 will be located at 8801 Stagecoach Road. It will bring the number of stations that serve the City of Little Rock to 22. Station 5 was closed and the number was never reused, and Engine 8 operates from the Central Fire Station.

The City Board of Directors voted in 2017 to hire Jackson Brown Palculict Architects for architectural services to build the 9,568 square-foot property that will house a total of 12 staff (captains, engineers and firefighters). The building will include an apparatus room, bedrooms, training room, exercise room, common area and kitchen and is expected to be completed in November 2019.

Funding for this project is from the LR CENT 3/8-Cent Capital Improvements Sales Tax approved by Little Rock voters in September 2011.

The Little Rock Fire Department is one of fewer than 60 fire departments in North America to have attained a top ISO rating of 1 and to also be accredited by the Commission of Fire Accreditation International.
