Annual Landscape Awards to be Given in New Categories

LITTLE ROCK (July 6, 2005)–Little Rock is a city known for its beauty.  Businesses throughout the City have outstanding landscaping.  The City Beautiful Commission needs the help of the public in identifying these outstanding businesses.  The Little Rock City Beautiful Commission is now accepting nominations for its 2005 City Beautiful Landscape Awards.

The four categories are structured to laud excellence in each of these professions, with one honor award and one merit award per category. Any commercial, institutional or multifamily landscape architectural project within the city limits of Little Rock is eligible for nomination by the public.

The Landscape Awards categories are:

·         Excellent Landscape Development– Given to developers for landscapes in place for a year demonstrating excellent design and implementation, including voluntary upgrades or enhancements exceeding city requirements.

·         Excellent Landscape Design– Given to landscape architects/designers for new developments that have been in existence for at least a year and exhibit superior landscape design that goes beyond city requirements.

·         Excellent Landscape Maintenance– Recognizes landscape maintenance contractors for landscape maintenance in new developments that exceeds city requirements.

·         Committed Excellence in a Landscape Development– Recognizes businesses for the continuous commitment and dedication to the maintenance and beauty of their landscapes in place for more than five years.

Established in 1947, Little Rock’s City Beautiful Commission is responsible for ensuring a high level of visual aesthetic quality in the Capital City. The Commission’s goal is to raise the level of community expectations for the quality of its environment.
