LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Aug. 28, 2014) – The City of Little Rock received a temporary injunction from Judge Timothy D. Fox, Pulaski County Circuit Court, Sixth Division, to immediately close Willow Creek Apartments. Officials had previously cited property owners with more than 250 municipal code violations. While some issues were solved, owners failed to bring units to compliance with minimum building and housing codes.

City Manager Bruce Moore stressed the importance of swift action by the City when property owners are in consistent noncompliance with municipal codes.

“After assessing this property, it was clear that residents were exposed to many life safety violations,” said Moore. “We simply can’t risk the well-being of our citizens by exposing them to these life-threatening and unsanitary living conditions.”

More than 100 violations were considered life safety issues and 48 units were declared unsafe.

All tenants will have until 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5 to vacate the property. 

Resource specialists from the City’s Department of Housing and Neighborhood Programs will be available on site to help residents with this transition. Tenants will receive information on referrals for other housing locations. Additionally, the Little Rock Police Department will offer increased surveillance of the area while officials secure the facility.

The Willow Creek Apartment complex is located at 7515 Geyer Springs Road.
