Just before midnight on Friday December 17, 2022, Little Rock Police Officers were dispatched to assist the Arkansas State Police in reference to a homicide investigation. Officers were later notified that a subject was reporting a shooting incident that occurred in Little Rock in the 12300 block of Chenal Parkway. After further investigation, it was determined that the Arkansas State Police Investigation and the shooting incident were the same incident.

Homicide Detectives were notified, responded, and began an investigation. Witnesses were transported to the Major Crimes Division for questioning. After further investigation, 25 year-old Joshua Shorty was charged with First Degree Murder and transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. The body of the deceased was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab pending Identification and Autopsy. This homicide occurred in the Northwest Division.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Johnny Alexander.
