LITTLE ROCK – With New Year’s Eve on Tuesday, City of Little Rock officials are reminding residents of the City’s prohibition on celebratory gunfire and personal use of fireworks.
It is illegal within the City of Little Rock to discharge a firearm or set off fireworks. Celebratory gunfire to mark the new year is extremely dangerous because stray bullets could cause death, injury or property damage.
Because of the danger of celebratory gunfire to life and property, residents should call 911 any time they suspect gunfire.
Residents are encouraged to report any fireworks violations to the email address LRPDFireworksViolations@LittleRock.gov. All messages received through the email account will be reviewed by Little Rock Emergency Communications officials and assigned to a police officer.
Residents will receive automated acknowledgements of their complaints, but they should not expect direct contact with an officer. If police witness illegal activity, violators will receive citations and illegal fireworks will be seized.
The email address will be monitored starting Tuesday, Dec. 31, at noon until Wednesday, Jan. 1, at noon.
Email reporting is the best and most efficient way to report suspected firework use. Residents are asked to use the email address to report non-emergency situations and to only call 911 for gunfire, injuries and other emergencies.
In addition, other non-emergency reports can be made to the LRPD’s non-emergency line, (501) 371-4829.
