Free April 12 Festivities to Include Celebrity Match

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 11, 2016) – The game is on at Rebsamen Tennis Center, where this year’s Baptist Health Foundation Bolo Bash tennis tournament is taking place all week, with Tuesday, April 12, holding the special distinction of being City of Little Rock Day.

The public is invited to attend Tuesday’s festivities, which are all free. Events include lunch from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. courtesy of Lindsey’s Hospitality House, the beginning of the tournament’s Main Draw play, and a Celebrity Match at 12:30 p.m. that features local players, including Tre’ Day of Power 92 radio station, Jordan Bontke with KATV, Susan Altrui of the Little Rock Zoo, and North Little Rock District Judge Paula Juels Jones, who is a 2016 inductee into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this year’s tournament,” Parks and Recreation Director Truman Tolefree said. “Our courts have seen plenty of players over the years, yet this year is particularly special for us as we celebrate our facility and Parks employees who helped make this a reality.”

This is a return to Rebsamen for the tournament. This year will be the first time in the tournament’s history for night games thanks to the newly installed regulation lights on the courts.

Bolo Bash Tennis is a partnership between Baptist Health and the United States Tennis Association. This official USTA men’s pro circuit event is a pathway to the U.S. Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and has hosted players such as the 2014 U.S. Open finalist Kei Nishikori, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Brad Gilbert, and many more.
