Press Release
(Little Rock – April 28, 2011)
On April 30, 2011 the Little Rock Animal Village will convert from a Monday through Friday to a Tuesday through Saturday operation. LRAV has opened from 10 to 4 on Saturday for about 9 months with the help of volunteers, but have had to add staff because of the overwhelming success. LRAV determined that the need of Little Rock’s citizens will be better served to convert to open Saturday with full service and close on Monday.
“The need for Animal Service Officers has always been high on Saturday but has increased as citizens have noticed we are open,” said LRAV Manager Tracy Roark. “Monday is the obvious day to close because it is traditionally the slowest day of the week.”
“This change will allow our citizens to better take advantage of our services when most are not working because of the weekend,” said City Manager Bruce Moore. “Since we have opened on weekends we have seen adoptions continue to rise and even broken monthly and yearly records for adoptions.”
