9th Street Extension – Phase II

WHAT:             Construction crews will begin Phase II of the 9th Street Extension project beginning the week of December 3, 2012. Construction is scheduled to be completed by June of 2013. East 6th Street and Picron Street beginning at the Corning Avenue Intersection will be closed to all thru traffic until the project is complete. This project is an extension of the reconstruction of 9th Street and other streets in the area to upgrade to four lane arterial standards.

Detour Route Information

Motorists traveling in the area will be directed to take the following detour route: starting at East 6th Street at Corning, turn south on Corning Avenue, west on 10th Street to Conner Avenue, north on Conner to 9th Street. This detour route will allow access to Dassault Falcon Jet, Airport Drive, and the Bill and Hillary Clinton International Airport.

Warning signs will be placed in advance of the detour route at East 6th Street and Corning Avenue.  Additionally, standard detour guide signs will be in installed along the route.  Motorists should expect added travel time for this route.  A map is attached.
