During the evening hours of November 5th, 2023, Northwest Patrol Officers responded to 9201 Kanis Road in reference to a shooting call for service. When officers arrived, they discovered 19-year-old Carlos Thurman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. MEMS and RESCUE responded, and Mr. Thurman was transported to a local hospital where he would eventually succumb to his injuries. Officers secured the scene and Homicide Detectives were notified. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the body of Mr. Thurman to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
