#9 Olympia Court Homicide)

At 12:35 a.m., on Wednesday January 1, 2025, Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at #9 Olympia Court. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive juvenile who succumbed to gunshot wounds at the scene. Three other victims were also located, 18-year-old Aaliyah Morton along with 49-year-old Albert Betts, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A fourth victim, 18-year-old Yadhira Lopez was not injured. MEMS responded and transported Morton and Betts to local hospitals for treatment. Ms. Lopez was taken to the Major Crimes Division.  Officers secured the scene and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained additional information that 18-year-old Nicholas Wooford was involved in the incident. He was transported to Major Crimes where he was questioned and released without charges pending further investigation. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.
