Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a shooting call for service at 8220 Geyer Springs Road at 5:21 p.m., on Thursday April 10, 2025. When officers arrived, they located a male subject outside of a business suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his torso. MEMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Simultaneously, officers secured the scene and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. The identity of the victim will be released when next of kin is notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Ernesto Cervantes.
