Patrol Officers with the 12th Street Division responded to an assist medical call for service at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 801 East Roosevelt Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Joseph Cessor suffering from apparent blunt force trauma injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide Detectives were notified and responded.  Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded to the scene and transported the body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
