At 3:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2023, 12th Street Patrol Officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded to a shots fired call for service at 800 Broadway Street. Officers arrived and discovered Patrick Jordan, 20, of Little Rock, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. MEMS and RESCUE responded and attempted life-saving measures; however, Mr. Jordan died at the scene. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the deceased victim to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the investigation, Mickell Taylor and Overdis McKenzie Jr, both 19, were developed as suspects in the incident. The two were taken to the Major Crimes Division and after being questioned, Taylor and McKenzie Jr. were arrested and charged with Capital Murder. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
