At 8:24 p.m., on Wednesday February 26, 2025, LRPD officers were patrolling responded to a subject down at 5805 Stagecoach Road. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult male suffering from a laceration to his neck area. MEMS responded and began life-saving measures while simultaneously transporting the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Evidence at the scene indicated that the incident occurred inside one of the residences. Officers secured the location and detained individuals present. Homicide Detectives were notified and responded to the scene. The Pulaski County Coroner later transported the victim’s body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Next of kin notification is pending confirmation of the victim’s identity by the Medical Examiner.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the course of the investigation, John Parkman was developed as a suspect.  After being questioned and advised of his rights, he was charged with 1st Degree Murder and transported to Pulaski County Regional Jail. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.

On February 27, 2025, John Parkman, 72, of Little Rock, was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Murder.
