On Wednesday February 21, 2024, patrol officers with the 12th Street Division responded to a shots fired call for service in the area of West 24th and Lewis Street. Officers were then directed to 4209 West 24th Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a deceased black male, later identified as 63-year-old Nicky Lamar who had succumbed to gunshot wounds. Shortly afterwards, a second black male arrived at UAMS suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The scene at 4209 West 24th Street was secured and Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit were notified and responded. An investigation was underway as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. A preliminary investigation suggests the two shootings are related.
Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified. The second individual who showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds would later succumb to his injuries and his body was also transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. The next of kin will be notified pending the outcome of the autopsy.
The second person involved in this shooting has been identified as 39-year-old Lavor White of North Little Rock.
