At 11:14 am, on Friday, February 21, 2025, patrol officers with the 12th Street Division responded to a disturbance call at 311 East 8th Street (Cumberland Towers). Officers arrived and were directed to make contact with a subject in apartment 401 who was refusing to leave the premises. Contact was made with 40-year-old Shannon Brown who had blood on her person. Officers also located 60-year-old Robert Johnson suffering from an unknown severe injury. MEMS and RESCUE responded and attempted life-saving measures; however, Johnson succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Subsequently, Ms. Brown was detained and transported to the Major Crimes Division. Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was later notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. Ms. Brown was developed as a suspect and ultimately charged with Capital Murder. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
