Patrol Officers with the 12th Street Station responded to 2407 South Cross Street at 8:26 a.m., on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in reference to a subject down call for service.  When officers arrived, they discovered 47-year-old Maryam Ballard deceased from gunshot wounds. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. The Pulaski County Coroner was notified and responded to the scene to transport Ms. Ballard’s body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy and next of kin was later notified. 

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after detectives and began an investigation. Detectives canvassed the area and spoke with witnesses. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
