At 5:17 pm on Monday, November 18th, 2024, patrol officers with the 12th Street Division responded to a suspicious vehicle at 2400 South Pulaski Street. When officers arrived, they discovered 50-year-old Javier Alvares-Garcia, unresponsive inside of a vehicle. Officers determined Mr. Alvares-Garcia clearly showed no signs of life due to an apparent gunshot wound. Subsequently, officers located the crime scene, secured the area, and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded to the hospital and transported the deceased victim to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area, looked for surveillance video, and spoke with witnesses. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
