After responding to a shots fired call for service at 11:14 p.m., on February 28, 2025, northwest patrol officers discovered 33-year-old Eugene McDaniel deceased in a vehicle. MEMS and RESCUE responded and confirmed the death. The scene was secured and LRPD Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit were notified and responded. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area, looked for surveillance video, and spoke with witnesses. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
