During the early morning hours of March 12, 2024, Northwest Patrol Officers responded to 1817 Reservoir Road in reference to a shooting call for service. As officers began their investigation, Emergency Communications advised that a shooting victim arrived at a local hospital. Officers responded and located 20-year-old Jayshawn Hammock who was being treated for an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Hammock succumbed to his injuries despite receiving medical treatment. Homicide Detectives were notified and began a preliminary investigation. The Crime Scene Search Unit was also notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the body of Mr. Hammock to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.  This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
