On Thursday January 18, 2024, patrol officers with the Southwest Division responded to 13600 Otter Creek Parkway in reference to a shooting at 1:33 a.m. Emergency Communications advised that the caller stated they heard gun shots outside of building #9. Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Owen Mitchell unresponsive in the breezeway of the building. MEMS responded and rendered aid, but Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers secured the scene and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Southwest Division.

#Update: On February 15, 2024, 26-year-old Quinterious Thomas was taken into custody and charged with Capital Murder in connection with this homicide.
