First Step in 13 Month Revitalization Planning Process
(Little Rock -- July 24, 2008) The City of Little Rock announced today that Crafton Tull Sparks Associates will work with the City and neighbors to create a vision for revitalizing the 12th Street Corridor.
According to City Director Ken Richardson, “I am excited to begin working with Crafton Tull Sparks Associates and the neighborhood as together we embark on this thirteen month long project. The first step is a community meeting on Monday, July 28. At that meeting, the neighbors will be introduced to the team of professionals who will be receiving input in the coming months. Together we will all put together a comprehensive plan. It will be unlike anything our community has ever seen.”
The community meeting will take place at the Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center on July 28, at 6:00 pm. The Hinton Center is located at 3805 West 12th Street (the corner of 12th and Pine Streets).
“It is critical that everyone in the 12th Street Corridor area contact neighbors, friends and others that are interested in this project and ask that they attend this meeting,” said Director Richardson. “The consultants will explain their time frame, goals and at what times during the process they will be soliciting public input so that they can get a broad sense of what citizens would like to see the 12th Street area transform into.”
Persons needing more information can contact Frederick Gentry at 501-371-6801 or fgentry@littlerock.gov.
The boundaries for the 12th Street Corridor are Woodrow Street to University Avenue from I-630 down to 15th Street.
