11311 Mara Lynn Road Homicide)

At 3:06 p.m., on Tuesday October 29, 2024, Northwest Patrol Officers responded to an assist medical call for service at 11311 Mara Lynn Road. Emergency Communications advised officers the subject was possibly deceased prior to arrival.  When officers arrived, they met with MEMS and RESCUE who were performing life-saving measures on an unidentified black male, later identified as 37-year-old Thomas Walton. Officers were informed by a member or RESCUE that Walton had a suspicious laceration on the back of his neck. LRPD Supervisors were notified and responded as well as Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit. Subsequently, three (3) people were detained and questioned as potential witnesses. Meanwhile, the scene was secured, and the Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin notification was delayed pending the outcome of the autopsy.

A preliminary investigation began; however, a short time later, officers on scene were approached by Corey Bass who stated he was involved in the incident. Mr. Bass was then taken into custody and transported to the Major Crimes Division where he was questioned and released pending further investigation. The investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
