On February 25, 2025, at 8:41 p.m., Northwest Patrol Officers responded to 1001 South Bowman Road in reference to checking the condition of an individual in a vehicle. When officers arrived, they discovered 38-year-old James Flowers Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. MEMS and RESCUE responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. While officers were securing the scene, they made contact with 32-year-old Rodrick Alexander Jr. who was eventually detained and transported to the Major Crimes Division. Homicide Detectives were notified and responded. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.
Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit were notified and responded. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area, looked for surveillance video, and spoke with witnesses. During the course of the investigation, Mr. Alexander Jr. was questioned and released without charges pending a file review. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
