Fleet Maintenance Central Facility:
Fleet Services Central Maintenance Facility is located on J.E. Davis Drive in Little Rock and includes the light-duty sedan shop, heavy-duty truck shop, fire shop, tire shop, small-engine shop, paint and body shop and welding shop. The hours of operation are 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and closed on major holidays. This facility is open around the clock immediately before, during and immediately after inclement weather incidents in order to ensure City vehicles are properly equipped to continue providing services to the citizens of Little Rock.
Along with the major duties performed at this Central Facility are the additional responsibilities of vehicle up fitting, which is the technical function of turning a newly acquired vehicle into a service ready Emergency Response Unit. This is an extensive service function that includes installing and programming the video camera and computer systems, and installing Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and prisoner containment equipment. This essential and critical function is one of the hallmarks of quality service, which previously was only performed by outside contracted specialty agencies at a much greater expense to the City. Such achievements are made possible through the Fleet Services Department's commitment for continuing quality services through innovation and efficiency.
AJ James, Douglas Meiggs and Richard Walker are the Service Center Supervisors for this facility. They can be reached via e-mail at ajames@littlerock.gov, dmeiggs@littlerock.gov and rhwalker@littlerock.gov or by phone at (501) 918-4240.
Satellite Facilities:
The Fleet Services Department has a satellite maintenance facility located at the City Landfill. The Solid Waste Division fleet consists of over 140 units, including an assortment of large earthmovers (dozers, excavators, articulating dump trucks) as well as the City's sanitation units. All sanitation units are serviced at the Landfill maintenance facility. This facility operates on a five (5)-day, and sometimes six (6)-day, per week schedule. Facility hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
D. Patrick Henry is the Service Center Supervisor for the facility and can be reached via e-mail at dhenry@littlerock.gov or by phone at (501) 888-0132.
