Mission Statement
To provide impartial, courteous and timely adjudication of alleged city code violations. Further, our court will impose monetary sanctions, when appropriate, for code violations. Our mission is to ensure that neighborhood conditions are improved to comply with accepted health and safety standards.
Our civil and small claims division seeks to ensure that all claims and defenses are docketed in a timely fashion, and that all litigants have the opportunity to fully try and defend their cases. Further, our aim is to provide timely and impartial adjudication of civil and small claim matters.
Environmental Court is held weekly in the Traffic Courtroom located at 600 West Markham Street. The schedule is as follows:
Mondays: 1:00 p.m. – reports
2:00 p.m. - trials
Wednesdays: 1:00 p.m. – plea and arraignment, parking enforcement trials are held at 1:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 1:00 p.m. – reports
2:00 p.m. - trials
This court hears all city code violations including, but not limited to, the following:
- Accumulation of trash
- Parking in yard
- Failure to demolish a structure
- Illegal dumping
- Abandoned/inoperable autos
- Failure to maintain utilities
- False alarms
- Failure to obtain privilege license
- Loud music
- Animal charges (cruelty, failure to vaccinate, failure to register, etc.)
- In city parks after hours
- Parking tickets
Civil & Small Claims cases are heard on Tuesday's at 1:30 p.m in the Traffic Courtroom located at 600 West Markham Street.

Filing Fees
- For initiating a cause of action in the CIVIL DIVISION $80.00
- For initiating a cause of action in the SMALL CLAIMS DIVISION $65.00
- NO PORTION OF THE FILING FEES SHALL BE REFUNDED.
