The Hiland Dairy sponsorship includes $22,250 in cash contributions for Zoo upgrades, the zoo’s popular Hiland Dollar Day held in the summer, and for other special events. The sponsorship also includes free publicity and promotion for the zoo on milk cartons distributed to elementary schools around the state as well as in-kind product for use at Zoo events and in the zoo’s Café Africa.
Zoo Director Susan Altrui expressed gratitude to Hiland Dairy for their continued commitment.
“Hiland Dairy continues to be an important partner for the Little Rock Zoo. Few corporations in central Arkansas have shown the type of dedication that Hiland Dairy has shown to the Zoo. We are appreciative of this gift and recognize the continued commitment that Hiland Dairy has to improving central Arkansas and helping families,” Altrui said.
Mike Flagg, general manager of Hiland Dairy and a long-time supporter of the zoo expressed Hiland’s enthusiasm for continuing its commitment to the zoo.
“Hiland Dairy is committed to our community and to Arkansas families. The Little Rock Zoo is an important place for all Arkansas families and we’re proud to continue our partnership with the Zoo again this year,” Flagg said.
Flagg joined Altrui on Wednesday in front of the Zoo’s temporary Angolan colobus monkey exhibit where three of the primates are recently on display for public viewing. Female colobus Princess Thumbelina and Tamu and Azizi the male, got treats tucked inside empty Hiland milk cartons.
The trio of beautifully colored black and white monkeys will move to a new Africa exhibit upon its completion.
