Fleet ServicesMany of our Little Rock citizens have probably seen a funny looking 3 wheel vehicle patrolling the downtown area and visibly wondered… “What is that thing?”
City of Little Rock Fleet Director, Wendell Jones has taken a very prominent stance in the reduction of the City’s carbon footprint. This stance includes encouraging each of the City’s Departments to utilize alternative fuels or green energy when possible. In October 2013 Little Rock was introduced its very own Firefly. Unlike the insect that we all know and love, this Firefly is a road-ready 100% electric scooter. It was added to the fleet of the Division of Parking and Code Enforcement. The Firefly is an ESV (Essential Services Vehicle) that is specifically designed for parking enforcement, security, shipping and delivery, and grounds maintenance. It is 100% electric so is are no emissions while the engine idles. The vehicle requires no oil change and is virtually maintenance free. It is capable of reaching a 45mph speed within seconds and it has the ability to travel up to 60 miles between charges.
The City of Little Rock Fleet Department is proud of the direction that our City continues to move as we keep the city rollin!
