L. Lamor WilliamsLITTLE ROCK (June 21, 2018) – Thursday marked the first day of summer, a time of year when Arkansas often sees temperatures in the three digits. The Little Rock Fire Department wants to help residents without adequate air conditioning and has kicked off its annual Beat the Heat Fan Drive.
In an effort to help provide some relief from the intense summer heat and to reduce heat related emergencies, the Fire Department provides box fans to senior citizens, lower income residents, families with small children and others in the community living with limited air conditioning.
Box fans are preferred but any working fan will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off at any Little Rock Fire Station. Fans are available while supplies last, and are limited to one fan per household. The fan drive will run through September 28, 2018. For more information, contact the Little Rock Fire Department at 918-3700 or fireprevention@littlerock.gov
