WHAT:       The City of Little Rock’s Love Your School childhood obesity prevention program is honoring more than 200 University of Arkansas at Little Rock student volunteers. From January through April, UALR students taught nutrition lessons to more than 2,600 students totaling 15,600 volunteer hours.

                 Love Your School was recently recognized by the Volunteers in Public Schools committee for its work in seven Little Rock elementary schools. The program also received the Community Resource Award for outstanding volunteer service.

                 Love Your School offers nutrition and cooking education in addition to a physical activity program for students and their families at each elementary school where the program takes place.
