Impact The Rock by Volunteering on Saturday, April 15)

LITTLE ROCK – Volunteers from across Little Rock will participate in “Impact The Rock: A Day of Unity and Service” on Saturday, helping out with clean-up and debris removal in neighborhoods impacted by the March 31 tornado.

The annual “Impact The Rock” volunteer service day coincides with the start of National Volunteer Week. To join other volunteers on Saturday, starting at 9 a.m., sign up at www.LittleRock.gov/volunteer.

“Every year, we set aside a day for residents to make a positive impact on our City through volunteer service,” said Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. “This year’s ‘Impact the Rock’ will be another meaningful opportunity to come together to help out our friends and neighbors who are recovering from the tornado. I’m amazed by the selfless acts of service I’ve seen the last two weeks, and I know Little Rock will show up Saturday to make a difference.”

Volunteers will meet at three different sites on Saturday:

2000 Sanders Road

1324 N. Shackleford Road

1315 Breckenridge Drive

In particular, the City is asking for volunteers with pick-ups, flatbed trailers or dump trucks who are willing to haul debris to the City’s collection site at Reservoir Park. Volunteer teams are also needed to load the trucks and to assist with collection of yard debris and construction waste.

Volunteers are asked to bring water and gloves and to be sure to wear sunscreen. Lunch will be provided to volunteers at The Forge: A Church of the Nazarene, 1309 Old Forge Road. Volunteers will also receive a free #LRStrong t-shirt for participating in the “Impact The Rock” projects.

Volunteers are asked to sign up at www.LitlteRock.gov/volunteer. For more information about the City’s tornado relief and recovery effort, visit www.LittleRock.gov/relief.
