6 p.m. Update

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Feb. 16, 2015) -- They City of Little Rock will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 17 due to hazardous road conditions. Public safety and designated essential personnel will report to work as normal. The regularly scheduled Board of Directors meeting has also been canceled.


Little Rock Public Works crews will continue to work through the night to treat and clear city streets. The 12-hour evening shift will continue to work until 5 a.m. tomorrow. While progress has been made to the primary street system, many of the secondary and local residential streets remain covered with ice and snow. Even with the progress made today, temperatures tonight will be well below freezing which will lead to the refreezing of streets by early morning. Citizens are urged to use caution if morning travel is necessary. Little Rock Public Works crews will continue to work in 12-hour shifts until all the streets in Little Rock are clear.

11 a.m. Update


LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Feb. 16, 2015) -- Little Rock Public Works continues to work 12-hour shifts to clear the streets of Little Rock. Crews reported to work at 5 p.m. on Sunday, allowing them several hours to pre-treat roadways. Bridges, overpasses, and some of the city's major roadways were treated with a salt/sand material that includes 30 percent salt and 70 percent sand mixture.


The first 12-hour shift worked through 5 a.m. Monday. The day shift will work through 5 p.m. on Monday. Crews are currently plowing the snow routes which include the city's main roads.


Little Rock Public Works will continue working 12-hour rotating shifts until streets are clear.

Sunday, Feb. 15, 8 p.m. Update

The City of Little Rock has 16 sand and salt trucks ready to treat roadways in anticipation of winter weather expected tonight. Employees from the Public Works Department are on standby for Sunday night and all day Monday. The City of Little Rock is scheduled to be closed on Monday in observance of President's Day, but the Public Works Operation team will remain on 12-hour rotating shifts until streets are clear.
