Community Outreach on Proposed Outdoor Recreation Amenities at Hindman Park
Little Rock Parks and Recreation invites you to participate in a series of community meetings to discuss the proposed Master Plan for Hindman Park. Spanning over 150 acres of beautiful open green space and undisturbed forests, Hindman Park is a unique gem where the Wetlands and Fourche Bottomland Forest meet with the Ouachita Mountains and Forests. These meetings aim to educate residents on plans to enhance this one-of-a-kind green space and create an Outdoor Recreational Park with various amenities, including paved walking and biking trails, a top-of-the-line playground, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, a championship disc golf course, scouting, a fishing lake and piers, a kayak launch on Brodie Creek, and improved parking and security features. The plan also proposes connection points to Brodie Creek Park and Western Hills through the park.
During the meetings, we will review the work performed thus far and discuss the challenges and opportunities in activating this space. Your feedback is not just important, it's crucial. You are the key to shaping the future of Hindman Park.
Meeting Schedule:
- Mountain Bike Users Focus Group - August 1st
- Educate attendees on different forms of bike attractions.
- Gather feedback on bike elements to be incorporated and their locations.
- Launch an online survey for those unable to attend.
- Disc Golf Users Focus Group - August 15th
- Discuss the current state of the 18-hole disc golf course, which has hosted state tournaments.
- Listen to feedback from active users to build a bigger and better championship course.
- Provide an overview of the park's overall vision.
- Outdoor Recreation Overview & Community Work Session - September 5th
- Incorporate feedback from the previous meetings.
- Present the current form of the Master Plan with input from professional, recreational, and neighborhood leaders.
- Seek additional feedback and priorities from attendees.
- Review survey feedback to date.
