On September 16, 2026, at 11:28 a.m., Southwest Patrol Officers responded to a shooting at 5511 Holly Springs Blvd. When officers arrived, they located 62-year-old Alaton Taylor inside the home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers began life-saving measures; however, Mr. Taylor succumbed to injuries on scene. The area was secured and officers took, 25-year-old Yolanda Taylor into custody and transported her to the Major Crimes Division. The home was secured pending a search warrant for processing. Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit responded and began an investigation. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video and conducted an interview with Taylor. It was determined Taylor would be released without charges pending the completion of a file review. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
