LITTLE ROCK – In an additional step to reduce crime, Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. today said he would ask the Little Rock Board of Directors to implement a special citywide weekend curfew for youth under age 18 beginning Friday, April 17, 2026, through Sunday, September 6, 2026. The proposal is expected to be voted on during a special called meeting of the Little Rock Board of Directors. Under the plan, the curfew would be 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through September 6, 2026.
Mayor Scott said today the City initially intended to enforce the extended curfew during the summer, but recent reports of illegal activity over the weekend by a group of young people made it necessary to start the curfew now. This curfew will be strictly enforced by the Little Rock Police Department. The permanent citywide weeknight curfew of 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays remains in effect.
“It is unfortunate but necessary for us to implement this curfew as we take additional steps to protect our residents, guests, and merchants,” Mayor Scott said. “We are making significant progress in reducing crime and changing the perception of crime in Little Rock. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to make sure our young people enjoy their weekends safely and that they abide by this curfew.”
If approved by the Board of Directors, the curfew would be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. every night for anyone under 18, unless they are accompanied by their parents or guardians, have a work permit or are leaving a city-sponsored activity or event.
Mayor Scott encouraged youth to participate in the many, varied activities and entertainment opportunities offered by organizations, churches, and businesses around the City. The City of Little Rock offers programming such as Midnight Basketball, summer day camps, internships for youth and adults.
