Thank you for volunteering for Little Rock’s BikePed Count! This page has everything you need to get ready, complete your count, and return your results.

If you haven’t yet done so, reserve your count location here.

2026 Count Times

Tuesday, September 8 | 5–7 p.m. Saturday, September 12 | 12–2 p.m.

You don’t need a partner

Some volunteers enjoy counting with a friend, and there is room for two volunteers at each location. But one person can count most locations just fine, and most of our volunteers count by themselves.

If you want to make the biggest contribution to the count, consider choosing a location that doesn’t already have a volunteer or, if you have a partner, consider splitting up and counting two locations. This gives us the best chance to cover as many locations as possible.

But if you feel most comfortable counting with someone else, you do you!

Here are your steps to a successful count:

1. Find your location

Make sure you know exactly where you’ll be counting and review the location-specific instruction sheet for your assigned location before count day.

Each instruction sheet shows where to position yourself and which bicycle and pedestrian movements to count.

2. Get your count materials

You’ll need:

  • Your location-specific instruction sheet
  • 1–2 count sheets
  • A pen or pencil
  • Something to write on, such as a clipboard or binder

You can print the materials yourself from the links below or pick up printed materials from Public Works.

If you pick up your materials, we can also provide a high-visibility vest and binder. These are helpful but not required and must be returned.

Count Sheet

Use this sheet to record bicycle and pedestrian activity during your count.

This is the sheet on which you will collect your count data.  Please bring 1-2 count sheets with you for your count.  Note:  The Monroe and 6th location has a different count sheet found on that location’s instruction sheet.

Location Instruction Sheets

Find your count location below and click to see your site-specific instructions.

Picking up materials at Public Works

Printed materials are available at:

Public Works Administration
701 W. Markham St
2nd Floor
Little Rock, AR 72201

Because instruction sheets are specific to each count location, please contact John Landosky (jlandosky@littlerock.gov) before coming so your materials can be prepared for you.

The Public Works Administration building is access-controlled. When you arrive, call 501-371-4430 from your cell phone or the foyer phone.

3. Get ready for count day

Please look over your instruction sheet and count sheet before your scheduled count. If anything is unclear, contact us ahead of time so we can answer your questions at jlandosky@littlerock.gov.

You may also want to bring a few things to make your count more comfortable, such as water, a chair, sunscreen, a hat, and weather-appropriate clothing.

4. Complete your count

Arrive at your location with enough time to get situated before the count begins.

Please start and end your count on time. Counts at different locations are conducted during the same two-hour period, so keeping everyone on the same schedule makes the results more comparable.

For the two-hour count period, record the people walking and biking through your location according to the diagrams and directions on your location-specific instruction sheet.

And that’s really it!

5. Return your results

Please return your completed count sheet as soon as possible—ideally within one week of the count.

You can:

  • Scan or photograph your completed count sheet and email it to jlandosky@littlerock.gov
  • Drop it off at Public Works Administration

If you borrowed a binder or high-visibility vest, please return those to Public Works as well.
