This week more than 500 teenagers will find out where they will work over the summer months as a part of the City of Little Rock’s department of Community Programs’ Summer Employment Program. Those eligible are between 16 and 21 years old. This program is intended to give our City’s youth valuable work experience. The Summer Youth Employment Program helps train these teens to learn life skills and workplace etiquette – then sends them to jobs across the Capital City for the summer. “This program provides basic work skills development for Little Rock’s future workforce. This program also gives a boost to our local economy,” said Programs Coordinator Marq Golden. “Participants receive a firm foundation of knowledge in preparation for Little Rock’s work environments and have an opportunity to put their acquired knowledge into practice.” Participants are partnered with a trained mentor – this joint venture gives participants the individual support they need while learning how to be a good employee. City Manager Bruce Moore will address the summer employees at 1:30 p.m. at the Robinson Exhibit Hall on Thursday, June 19th. Shortly after that, the students will receive their job matches. For more information contact Marq Golden at 399-3442.
