Katie Helms (Secretary)
I started my current job as an Assistant Professor at UA Little Rock during the Fall 2016 semester, where I oversee the Master of Science in Sport Management program. Prior to that, I was an administrator in the University Recreation department at the University of Arkansas for 13 years. While in Fayetteville, I served on the City’s Active Transportation Committee for the last 2 years that I lived there, and was also involved in the Bicycle Coalition of the Ozarks. I have been an avid recreational runner and cyclist, as well as active commuter, for several years. I commute both by foot and bike regularly… my frequent routes are from Hillcrest to UALR, the Heights, and downtown. I feel strongly about over-dependency on personal vehicles for transportation. I serve on the Active Transportation Advisory Committee to increase my awareness of active transportation issues and efforts within the city, as well as to influence planning and practice that further enables car-free transportation.
