Residents Reminded about City Ban on Personal Use of Fireworks

LITTLE ROCK– This Fourth of July weekend, City of Little Rock officials remind residents that personal use of fireworks is illegal within the city limits. Residents who violate the law could receive citations or have their fireworks confiscated by police.

Residents may report suspected violations of Little Rock’s fireworks ordinance by emailing fireworks@littlerock.gov. This email address will be monitored starting today, through Monday, July 6.During the holiday weekend, resident complaints about unlawful fireworks usage increase significantly. Email reporting is the most effective and efficient way for law enforcement to handle the expected high volume of complaints. All emails are reviewed by Emergency Communications personnel and assigned to a police officer.

Those who submit complaints by email will receive an automated acknowledgement of their email, but residents should not expect to be directly contacted by an officer. Because officers are responding to fireworks complaints in addition to their normal responsibilities, emergencies may take precedence.

For all emergencies, including fireworks-related injuries, property damage, or suspected gunfire, please call 911.

Other, non-emergency police reports can be made to (501) 371-4829.

Fireworks can cause serious injury or property damage. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 13,000 Americans were injured by fireworks in 2025 and 15 people died. Residents are encouraged to celebrate the holiday safely by watching professional, licensed displays.

The loud noises from fireworks can also cause stress, fear and anxiety for others and for pets. Residents are asked to be good neighbors and refrain from using fireworks.
